This week I got to work on Gel Lighting with my digital media 3 group. Gel Lighting is using sheets of plastic over a light to cast a color on somebody. For my pictures I used Ethan Vasquez, and Naomi Mexicano for my models. For this project I really wanted to capture the features of my models, so I decided to mainly stick with the colors Red, Blue, Purple, Light blue, Black, And pink. I personally think these photos all look good my favorite one being the middle photo, it captures the red and purple colors well and I liked the smile. For taking Gel Lighting pictures you need at least 3 people, Somebody needs to hold a light reflector, Another person has to model, And of course a Photographer. Gel Lighting uses both Additive and Subtractive colors. One is used with ink the other is used with light. You have to be careful with colors though mixing certain colors can cause the model or photo to look to bright, or to dark so choose your color carefully. This project was lots of fun and I cant wait to do it again.
